Post Event – 6th Connectathon of HL7 Hong Kong FHIR® Connectathon Series 2025

 



 

On 24 March 2025, HL7 Hong Kong hosted its 6th FHIR® Connectathon at the Hong Kong Productivity Council, bringing together healthcare informatics professionals to collaborate on interoperability and data exchange advancements. 

 

The event commenced with opening remarks from Mr Pascal Tse, Vice Chairman of HL7 Hong Kong, welcoming participants and setting the stage for an engaging discussion. Ms Louise Wong, Health Informatics Analyst I, Hospital Authority, provided an update on eHealth+, outlining its latest developments. 

 

Mr John Mok, Health Informatician, Hospital Authority, and Mr Rex Yiu, Health Informatics Analyst I, Hospital Authority, presented dataset briefings on Laboratory Record (Microbiology) and Radiology Examination Record, emphasizing how structured data enhances healthcare efficiency and continuity of care. Mr Michael Cheung, Technical Advisor, HL7 Hong Kong, also Systems Manager, Hospital Authority, introduced FHIR® mapping for both datasets, reinforcing its role in improving interoperability. 

 

Participants engaged in a lively open discussion, sharing insights and challenges before the event closed with final remarks from Mr Pascal Tse, reaffirming the importance of collaboration in health informatics. 

 

The Connectathon strengthened expertise, professional networks, and technical alignment in digital health transformation. By advancing FHIR® adoption, attendees contributed to a more seamless, efficient, and patient-centered healthcare system.
