Post Event – 7th Connectathon of HL7 Hong Kong FHIR® Connectathon Series 2025

On 7 July 2025, HL7 Hong Kong held its 7th FHIR® Connectathon at the Hong Kong Productivity Council, followed by an online session on 14 July. As the concluding round of the series, this Connectathon focused on two challenging key areas: the PMI Query Service and the Chinese Medicine.

Opening the session, Mr Alan Young acknowledged the journey since 2023, during which seven Connectathons have covered domains including Medication, Allergy/ADR, Clinical Notes, Laboratory Records, and Radiology—gradually advancing the adoption of FHIR® standards in Hong Kong.

In the event, speakers from the Hospital Authority shared updates and practical insights. Ms Louise Wong introduced improvements to the eHealth+ platform, and Ms Mavis Pow explained how PMI Matching Rules enhance data accuracy. Mr Jack Lee presented the structure of the Chinese Medicine dataset and its clinical relevance, while Mr Michael Cheung showcased FHIR® mapping for both PMI and Chinese Medicine. Participants engaged actively throughout the sessions, asking questions and sharing experiences related to system development. In closing, Mr Pascal Tse expressed appreciation to all speakers and attendees for their valuable contributions.

The success of the Connectathon Series was made possible through the contributions of HL7 Hong Kong members, with steadfast support from the eHealth Record Office, Health Bureau and Hospital Authority. We look forward to reconnecting in future events and continuing the journey toward better-connected healthcare systems that support practical and inclusive innovation.
